We have the 7 pin cord from the 5vr. Have always plugged it into the truck box sidewall receiver. Had problem near Ft. St. John, B.C. where the receiver, in the bed, stopped working. So plugged the cord into rear bumper electric receiver and put the remaining cord excess into the bed of the truck. It bounced out or threaded out of the bed of the truck onto the road and by the time I figured out there was a problem- the outer insulation and 4 of the 7 wires were bare down to the wire including the electric brake wires. Got to a campground in Ft. St. John--parked it--and went to work splicing the wires back together. Then got a roll of Duck Tape and taped it all to the bed of the truck. Didn't move until we got back home in So. Calif.
