Electrical problem

So I learned a new skill last night. I changed my GFI under the sink of course the first time I didn't get everything tight enough and a black wire popped off. When I plugged in the camper I heard a loud pop and thought I had ruined it. I unplugged and looked at it and then was successful the second time. I did have one other problem and that was the little LED light on the extension cord. It would allow electric for a short time and then pop the circuit. I could see the light sparking when I plugged it in. I removed it and had power all night. The beep was low power to the propane detector. Thank you for all your help.

Beep may also be smoke/fire detector low batteries and not related. Pull batteries out of unit temporarily and see if beep goes away.

We had a similar situation occur with our Bigfoot when we first purchased it. Changing out the GFI outlet under the sink corrected the problem. The faulty GFI would not reset and it was only 2 years old at the time. I would try replacing the GFI outlet first.

Sounds more like LP detector (little beep).
your battery(s) getting low?

Do you have an onboard generator?...If so, it might be a faulty ATS (automatic transfer switch), defaulting to the generator output...

I have tried to reset the button but it won't stay in. I think it is too old. 18 years is pretty good life. I will check the fridge tonight. It is cooling great right now. It is the only thing working on the 120 v. The guy that repairs my bigfood in Vernon, BC thinks it is the GFCI plug under the sink. I email him. The way I understand it from him is that all of the inside of the camper is controlled by the GFCI under the sink except the fridge. The only worry I have is every once in a while I am having a little beep like the microwave is getting just a little power.

you did try to push both buttons? if it was triggered, some require you to press the test, than reset button.

Yeah, just pull the plug in the fridge compartment.

If you pull the GFCI receptacle out of its box there will be an incoming wire (white/black pair) for "line" and an outgoing pair for "load". Be sure to label which is which if you replace the GCFI receptacle. It matters.

Anyway, if you disconnect the "load" side and then reapply the power, will it stay reset? That will tell you if the receptacle itself has failed or if something downstream (on the load side) is actually faulting. If it stays reset with the load removed, there is an issue with the wiring or an appliance on the load side and you'll have to pull more receptacles to see.

I assume you've already unplugged everything you can like the microwave, TV's, etc? Anything with a 3 pin plug can fail in a way that would trip a GFCI.

No mouse signs. Even with it unplugged the GFI will not reset. So I think I'll start there. I give changing it a try. Just to make sure I don't have to disconnect the battery just the 120?

If you're running the fridge on electricity, try unplugging it to see if the GFCI will reset. The electric heating elements are notorious for leaking current to ground, tripping the GFCI.
