electrical questions about my '96 Skyline WeekEnder 910

I didn't get an owners manual or any other literature with the camper and can't find anything on the internet specific to my camper.

The lady that I bought it from purchased it used and her husband passed away before they ever got a chance to use it so she couldn't help me.

With the camper loaded on the truck everything works except the AC. Not a tough one to figure out. ;)

The front electric jacks run off the truck, the rear run off the camper battery.

Nothing but the rear jacks work when the camper is unplugged from the truck other than the rear jacks, not even the 12v lights, fridge or anything else.

Everything works except the front jacks when the camper is plugged into 110 and not the truck.

Could this be normal? I would think all of the 12 volt stuff should work off the camper battery.
  • When I replaced the blown 30 amp fuse it arced pretty good.

Took a bit to find the problem and I'm almost embarrassed to tell you what it was.

The former owner had the camper battery's polarity reversed so when I put a new battery in I did the same.

Problems solved and everything works perfectly. :)

Its a house, not a car. LOL

Have you tried to contact Skyline corp ?

That would be too easy. ;) No I haven't but thank you.

I found them and I will contact them. I'd love some specs and an owners manual. The camper came with nothing.

I found a blown 30 amp fuse and replaced it and everything inside the camper started working. I did not try the front jacks.

I could hear a small buzzing sound from behind the circuit panel, then a click and the buzzing sound went away and then started again.

I'll tear off the panel tomorrow and find out what's buzzing and clicking.
  • thanks for the help - it looks like I have some work ahead of me :)

I do believe the truck is charging the camper battery but I haven't checked it with a meter.

I thought this was kind of weird.

At least there's time before camping season starts LOL
  • No ,it is not normal , everything 12v should work off the TC battery . Someone did some creative wiring . You will have to trace each circuit to find out where and how it terminates .I suspect there are some switches and possibly solenoids involved . Are you getting any charge from the truck to the TC battery ?
  • Could be theres is a battery cutout switch somewhere that would explain a lot of description. Yes camper should run on the battery unplugged from truck or shore.
The jacks however somethings askew:h. Jacks normally tied directly to battery, may or may not be controlled by a battery cut off. But the front? Im not even sure how you would wire to only see truck...tapped to charg line before it enters converter?
