I was going to purchase it but found out at the last minute that it is not compatible with most modern GM trucks for some reason.

The Sway Master is not the same controller as the Tuson module. The Sway master operates by simply activating all trailer brakes, while the Tuson system individually activates each side at a time to immediately correct the unintended yaw. Tuson does not currently list any incompatibility issues.
Correct but that would explain the lady with the airstream camper the sway master is "plug and play" while the tuson will require hard wiring the left and right sides. I suspect the first version of the Hayes didn't have a blocking diode so there was a "back feed" on the Blue brake wire circuit that the GM control saw and "disconnected" the circuit to protect the truck. It is though just my educated guess. BTW Jayco trailers started adding sway control in 2016 but also had compatibility troubles.
