Electrophoretic coated wheels.

On our travel trailer we have the white electrophoretic coating wheels original from the factory in 2001.

They are starting to look shabby and I want to clean these up for this spring.

Since there I believe they are electrophoretic coating that is peeling would it be a good idea to use Rust-Oleum High Performance Wheel Coating and finish up with the Clear Coat or have them electrophoretic again?

Has anyone had experience with one or both?
  • You don't show where you are but if there's a LesSchwab near you they will sand blast and powder coat your wheels (both sides) for $25 per wheel. The have lots of colors (incl. white) and the work is first rate. I don't know if that price includes dismounting and mounting.
I had it done to some wheels on a vintage car when I bought new tires for it and was very happy with the results.

I'm in the same boat as you; my present white wheels look shabby.
I'm either going to get them powder coated or better yet, I'm leaning towards some nice new aluminum wheels next season.
  • Yes Scott, I too am thinking about new aluminum wheels next season just to lighten the load found RecStuff.com in Jackson, WI 53037and doing a price check against the competing vendors.

Thanks about LesSchwab but was too far for me to go although you gave me another option to think about.
  • Thanks for the link. There's some tempting choices there.

Etrailer.com has some nice aluminum rims too!... You can also get aluminum rims with tires already mounted... Free shipping on orders over $99.00, fast delivery and a great place to order from!

    Etrailer-Tires And Aluminum Rims

A couple months ago I ordered 4 new 8-PLY tires for my TT, and 2 new rims with 8-PLY tires for my pontoon trailer.
