enclosed trailer living room

some friends have one to haul bikes and stuff it has lights and a side door with a velcro screen to cover the back.Its nice to have a little extra room for the kids to play in. We have seen a few people set them up as kitchens which looks nice.We have a Pontoon we pull behind our 5th wheel now or I would have one.

What a great idea... I never thought of such an approach and initially came up with no reason to look into it.. After reading this post, the thought process began to work and ideas I am going to explore.. If this activated my one remaining brain cell, I would suspect it will have the same effect on others... Hope they post their thoughts and plans on RV net to inspire the rest of us... Thanks for posting and as Roy would have said.. Happy Trails.

we lived in our Lance for 6 months and used our 16 ft enclosed trailer for a tv and craft room and it worked out well for us.

If you are ordering a new one think about provisions for light, insulation, and bug free ventilation.

There was a very nice one on here from a member IIRC was Supak. He did an outstanding job converting his trailer. When it wasn't hauling bikes it was a living room. The nicest job I have ever seen. It even went beyond a living room with extra batteries, inverter, etc. Wish I could find the thread but it has been several years ago.

I bought a 7x14' enclosed trailer with roof air and two 30 amp circuit feeding it that had been used for camping right before I got it. I wanted a portable shop so we could do some dirt filling and tear down the old building yet still have place for tools and a work bench. Rebuilt the ATV carb in it the other evening. It cost $1750 but if hitting the road I would put on four new tires and paint it to match/contrast with the MH. It is a 1995 model with three doors.

I do not have a picture but it is just a plain white box setting on four tires. :)

It would be a must if you need to sleep 3-4 teenagers.

I've used mine I couple times and still in the remodeling process. So far I've put shelves across the front, and plan to put a mount for tv and wire an outlet to plug in sat. receiver and tv. Also install a screen for the side door & back ramp.

Been there, using 3 diff.trailers. We ended up going back to an alum. 5x12 v-nose trailer to haul things.

I would suggest trying the idea out before you really get into putting time/money into it . We thought it was a great idea but didn't care for it after we tried it .
We just didn't like spending time inside when we could be outside.

After selling our 28 ft snomo trailer that we converted for a L.room , we downsized to another snowmobile trailer . I enclosed an 8x10 using alum 1x1 stock , 1/4" plywood covered with fiberglass mat. That is holding the roof snow better than the 28 ft'r , and is rock solid.
We used it as our snomo changing room as well as towed it when we camped in warm weather . It hauled our stuff and it was used as a spare bedroom and L.R. on occasion. (everything inside was all removable and portable, loveseat, flat screen, elec. fireplace)

We didn't use it . It was ok and got the job done but we really didn't like being inside. We needed to be out in nature.
It ended up being my DW's heated walk-in closet/changing room which we parked outside the CG bath house.



What we have done now , we did a simple truck camper dinette alteration to afford us more elbow room and a lounge chair set up. WE use our Cargo Pro trailer for hauling all our stuff.
Our trailer with our add a room is our extended kitchen now and extra cassette toilet to offset the dumping issue. We have found this set up to work better for us. The cooking/eating space proved to be the better more useful option. I can enclose my awning off my trailer and heat it as well.
Im in the process of making the awning larger 16x24 with full sidewall enclosures. It will be an outside kitchen/dinning room with enclosed access to the inside of the trailer . We do have a sat dish tv flat screen hookup out there that we have used for news/weather. This pic is the set up w/o the enclosure in place.

aluminum cargo/camping trailer

I dont have an enclosed trailer but I'v used my flat bed trailer as a deck for the camper while hooked up to the truck.

On Teardrops n Tiny Trailers, there is a section dedicated to converting enclosed trailers to campers. My friend does not have a TC and has converted his v-nose into a TH. We use ours mostly for hauling toys but have set up shelter for a rained out picnic and is additional enclosed sleeping space for any one wanting to come camping with us that does not have a camper or tent.

My trailer does have additional fresh and gray water tanks to refill or empty the TC on long trips or when we have guests. I also have battery power charged off solar and carry extra LPG for the TC generator inside the enclosed trailer.
