Energy Suspension Overload

I have been looking at doing some of the the energy suspension bump stops too make shorter distance of contact. Trying to figure out which ones to do. The 9.9101 look a little harder vs the 9.9109. I was leaning toward the 9.9101. Any one like these better? Also trying to figure out what length you guys set yours at. As measured the rear at 2.5" and the front at 2". So would you buy the 2.5" and just have the overload always touching or would that be too rough of a ride? The truck is a 2000 F-250.

Thanks

Those are the same Energy Suspension I used on my F250. They had a better unloaded ride than the StableLoads but would compress too much before engaging. I started with only ES stops, then mixed in half SL's before going to fully to SL. I had another application for the ES stops or I would have tried filling the cavities like others had done on this forum. It's always a balance of ride comfort and load handling and sometimes you have try a couple different setups to find that "just right" feeling.

I run both upper and lower SL's. Unlike Torklift's advice, I suggest adding the upper first and then see if you need more support with the lower later.

I agree. On a Super a Duty, start with Stable Load uppers and go from there.

  • Thank you, I have been looking at the stable loads. Is it best to run the lowers, uppers or both?
  • I use my Energy Suspension bump stops to make contact with the overloads, but not to hold the entire weight. I do have air bags, too. They will compress most of the way without air bags. I don't find they hurt the ride unloaded.

I bought these: Energy Suspension 9.9109G 2-1/2" Heavy Duty Bump Stop - Pack of 2 from Amazon.

BTW, I used the same setup on my F350 SRW with the same camper as in my sig.
  • I started with the Energy Suspension stops but found they compress too much for a F250 before engaging the overload springs (may be fine on a F350 that sits 2" higher in the back). I went with the StableLoads too.
  • I have the torklift sable loads on my 2000 F250
been using them for 5 yrs work great :)
