I also have them and yes it does as expected, quiets the creaking although not entirely. Have not seen any negative effects.

I have them on mine and they make it a lot quieter. I haven't noticed any difference in the sway control either. They are on my 1400/14000 lb one now and on my 1000/10000 lb one before.
