Everyone has their own method of storage and that changes as time goes on and we find a better way to do it. Another point is keeping the clutter and grease out of the pass through. That tends to be a catchall place for junk. I agree, that theft is unlikely on hitches and bars, but any method of theft deterrent is only going to work with honest people and just keeping it out of sight generally keeps it safe. My other concern is keeping the area around and under the trailer neat. It already has a tendency to look like Sanford & Son with storage tubs, blocks, chocks, and cords, so anything along I can do to keep the clutter down just makes me feel better.
