  • This year has been a big year for flash floods in the same area.

Here is Wahweap Creek flashing about a month ago:

Here is another Rankin video for a recent flash flood in Page AZ:
    Page Flash Flood

To see and learn more about northern AZ and southern UT flash floods go to Rankin's site: David Rankin's Flash Flood Info

Last weekend we and some friends went truck camping near Page and had a pretty big thunderstorm move through in the evening. We parked our trucks safely up high but were a little concerned about the 7 miles of dirt road back to the highway. Our trucks are 4x4 and we did need that in a couple of spots. We also both had our Jeeps so we knew we could get out if the road got too washed out for the truck campers.

It is pretty impressive and humbling to be out camping when a big lightning and thunderstorm moves through.
  • BroncosFan is right, the date stamp on the video is from last year, but David does have a video from Southern Utah as recent as July 18, 2013 on his Youtube Channel.

But this was from last year.
  • Wow. Nature is amazing! Bummer for your trip, but thanks for posting that.
