Best thing is hearing the busy bodies talk about how a pole saw and a Duracell powered chainsaw is going to desicrate a forest!
Must be a whole lot more ambitious than me, or never used a saw! Lol.
Good luck doing any logging with a pole saw and a Fisher Price chainsaw!

Personally, I don't carry either, but we do t get out much and our big camper ain't going anywhere that needs logged off to access it. But have been in a couple spots where I needed to toss a rope over a branch and persuade it out of the way to keep from scratching the camper. And a power saw would be more convienent than draggin a downed tree out of the road or cutting firewood with an axe and hand saw.

I have trimmed similar branches too, either low hanging ones, or some that are encroaching in to the driving area of a pull through campsite. There's one state park that I've been going to since 2000. I get the same campsite every year. About every 3rd year I trim branches in it that the park people fail to maintain.

I travel by myself mostly. I'm not going to be out there bucking up logs in the middle of nowhere. If I run across a down tree on a road I'll either try to pull it out of the way with my van or just stop there.

I do carry long handled clippers. I was trimming some tiny oak twigs that were brushing the roof of my van the other day. The whole time, this squirrel was up in the tree above me yelling, "You're RUINING IT. You're RUINING MY TREE!" God knows what would happen if I pulled out a pole saw.

Not really sure why some of the posts about cutting a tree off a forest service road are getting taken out of context.

Cutting the tree out making the road passable again is better than blazing a trail around the downed tree, which causes resource damage.

I bet. My 18v one works great. Used it to get into a CG which thought having low-hanging branches at its entrance was a good idea.

I also have a 110v (yes, 110v) lawnmower. That thing cuts every bit as good as gas, with no mess and a lot less noise.

I love mine. I bought it to carry on my ATV and I didn't want all the mess of a gas and I didn't want to have to carry extra fuel for them. A spare battery works great.

I've had a couple of friends smirk at mine until they got to use it.

Some people have a need to be ready for anything.
I made a living out the bush for decades. I have carried lots of logging equipment but not for building roads.
Nobody cares if you prune a few limbs.
In the last 50 years of being out there, I have run into "Forest Rangers" maybe twice.

I carry a 40v chainsaw with me everywhere I go when camping. I use it to clear existing roads.

Back in the 70's and early 80's my friends and I used to make new roads thru the forest just by exploring in out 4wd trucks, back then it was OK to do that but not anymore.

Then Clinton had Congress pass The Roadless Rule Act in 2001 that made it illegal to go off existing roads and trails.

If caught by a US Forest Service Ranger doing so he can confiscate your vehicle and you will never see it again.
