Eternabonding a New TT?

Keep in mind...the roof warranty doesn't deal with anything more than the roof fabric. Once your trailer is out of the standard warranty, you're on your own if it leaks anyway. They will replace the roof fabric if it proves defective and then it will be pro-rated. So essentially what good is the roof warranty to begin with. Pays for no labor, no sealants or hardware....Big Deal!

I suppose Jayco could then say you didn't caulk it properly after removing the gutters and awning.

My thoughts as well... I have read my 2015 Jayco owners manual and there is NOTHING about taking off the gutters or awning. Please show me where in your manual it states that so that I can specifically review mine.

Agreed.. No where in our 2016 Jayco manual does it state this!! Curious where Jayco states this..

If you read the post attributed to "trailer novice" that is referenced, it is second hand information relayed by a sales rep, someone who has a vested interest in saying that their product is top notch from the factory, just do more of the same. Also, whether he has any credence in warranty matters is questionable.

Personally, I have little faith in any warranty for any product. I try to make informed buying decisions and don't rely on a warranty to bail me out in the future. My personal experience with Eternabond tapes is that they worked where other sealants had failed.

Respectfully I disagree. It seems obvious from his post, from the sentences before and after the one that I quoted, that his intent is to make people believe that their warranty WILL BE VOIDED and its just not true.

I'm not getting into a pissing match just to see who can pee further, I am trying to get him to either put up proof that a warranty was indeed denied despite proper installation of Eternabond or to stop insinuating that a warranty would be voided.

I think the truth is important for people that are asking questions. I don't feel as though he is presenting the truth.

OK has anyone had a warranty claim denied due to this? It is all just "blah blah blah" unless someone can prove it. Then, if so, what are the details of the denial?

Some people are sooooo worried about a warranty that probably will be expired before they need it, and won't cover jack $#!+ when it is in effect as these dealers and manufacturers spend all their efforts building and selling junk and pointing fingers at each other running out the clock.

Eternabond sounds like a good preventative measure on the leading edge seam from the front to the roof. That area concerns me too.

I put a dashmat on a brand new car. Should I wait until the dash gets cracked before I do that?

I say go for it. I may buy a roll of it myself.

Yeah ... different words get injected into someones reply by others either on purpose or not paying attention. Anyhow thanks for pointing out the difference.

Hope the Dcarner (the OP) doesn't get put off by two bucks with our antlers hung up.
Eternabond is great stuff and much more than just another lap sealant however it may or may not be a recommended product to use as a lap sealant by the trailer mfg/dealer .....which was my point with posting what trailernovice found out.

Then what is your point? Every time this subject comes up, you make the same argument and imply that Eternabond will void your warranty. Is that your intention or not?

No reading disabilities here fella... You have stated this time and time again. You imply that the use of Eternabond voided a warranty "as one rv.net member found out", but the reality is that the warranty was NOT voided and you have ZERO factual basis to support your claim.

Well, took the TT to the selling dealer today for some minor work...rep. sees the tape job, asks 'why on earth did you DO that'?, and tells me that: a.) it's not necessary b.) it'll trap water if any water ever gets beneath the tape, and c.) any claim under the roof warranty may get kicked on grounds that the roof has been 'modified'....

Nowhere did I or trailernovice or his dealer rep state his warranty was voided.
