It's a great feeling once you've mastered backing up a trailer. For peace of mind and for not being subject to everyone watching you attempt it over and over again.
I've definitely noticed it's easier to back up a longer trailer. My friend has an Audi Crossover and was towing a couple jet skis. He had never towed or backed up before and I was trying to coach him on how to do it, since I've towed all over the place. After some other guys at the boat ramp got fed up waiting for him, I jumped in and backed it up for him. I'm not sure if it was just the shortness of the trailer or the very active steering on the Audi, but it took more work to get it where I Wanted it to go as it always wanted to go to one side or the other. I never had to pull forward to straighten out, but it was def not a straight line like with my TT.
