exaust brake and downshifting
not really sure how exhaust brake works. when coming down a hill should I have it in tow-haul. and with exhaust brake on, should it auto shift down or should I be doing the shifting. not even sure...

If your enquiry is concerning a Ram truck, turn the EB on every time you start it, except in snowy or slippery conditions. As the name implies it uses exhaust back pressure to help slowing your truck. Thus saving the service brakes. Depending on load and grade it can apply enough braking force to keep your speeds below posted, or safe speed when decending a mountain grade without the heavy use of the service brakes. In the flat lands it acts about the same down to about 15MPH where you would need service brakes to complete your stop.
