I have not had a 6.4. (went from a 2007 6.0 to 2012 6.7) But from reading about them it seems it has been generally a pretty good engine. Primary complaints I have read have been low fuel mileage.
I would avoid first year model. 6.0's, 6.4's, and 6.7's all had more complaints on the first year models than on subsequent years.
