And on which tank are you opening a vent?
On all the systems I've seen, including my home built tank and hose system, there's only one vent, and it's on my big fuel can. There are no vents on the replacement aluminum generator tank fuel caps.
As I stated, when I FIRST hook everything up, I initially was having an issue with the gennerators NOT pulling from the tank.. Someone told me that trick and it worked!.
I have a external marine tank that has a small vent knob on the cap that I close at first. Once the generators are running for a bit ,I open that vent and have NEVER had another problem..
