I've purchased two EW's in my life. A 3yr 36,000 EW on our first DP, only because I had no experience with a big unit like that and didn't want any unwelcome surprises. Didn't come close to recouping our premium and didn't renew.
Then this past June I went car shopping for a Jeep Wrangler. For $2400 (negotiated down from $3900), I bought the Chrysler LIFETIME Guarantee. Bumper-to-Bumper coverage for the life of the vehicle. No wear items covered of course (tires, brake pads, wiper blades, and such). $100 deductible per service visit.
At some point, if there is a repair that exceeds the book value of the car, they will write me a check for the value and the warranty ends.
Give how well Jeep Wranglers hold value, I felt this was a deal I simply could not pass up.
