I always buy the extended warranty, in my case it was for 100K when we bought our 2012. One major item going bad will more than pay for it. We have 54K on it now with no major problems and it runs great. But having that 46K buffer gives me some peace of mind. You know the old saw: buying insurance is a bet that both you and the insurance company hope that you'll lose. Warranties are just insurance.
On the other hand I never buy store warranties on items, they try to sell you one on just about everything these days. Those are rip offs.
