  • Try looking online some GM Chev dealers sell the GM warranty at a discount
    such as
    http://www.gmppdirectsmith.com/

See if they sell it for less
  • My take - while you will see the occasional story of someone that was saved from a huge expense by an extended warranty, there are an untold number of people who threw their money away. The sales person will make you feel like your are a moron for not wanting to protect yourself 3-5 years out, while on the inside will see you as a moron for giving him $2-3K extra profit on his deal.

Bottom line - for every purchase where I declined an extended warranty, never regretted it. For every extended warranty I ever purchased, money thrown away.

I'll admit, the sales pressure is hard to resist, but do your best!

Edit - oh, look above... there's one now! :p
  • I always buy a warranty from the dealer for my new cars all but one paid for itself. Make sure it is a manufactures warranty and not anyone else i.e. Ford Ford warranty Gm etc.
  • True extended warranties offered by the manufacturer would be the only kind I would consider. Everything else is known junk. It would be contingent on price as well.
  • Not worth the money. I was listening to a car show on the radio today and the caller asked about a car he was goin to buy. It was a 2005 with 95,000 miles on it and wanted to know if it was a good deal. The host said it was a great car except they are known to have transmission problems and the buyer should expect to need a new tranny at 130,000 miles. Suggested he buy the car and get an extended warranty to cover the failure. Seemed like two pieces of bad advice.
