What ever works is great , but I think your supposed to pull it out first and lock the auto rafters , then raise it .
On mine I couldn't raise the main arms first anyway because the awning rests under the overhang of the camper when stowed away, it would hit the overhang
Secondly when you raise the main arms first your raising them one at a time and its un rolling fabric as you do that , its pulling the fabric to one side then the other,
I`v had regular awnings on the rear of TC`s , Flamue type box and Carefree box awnings on the side , the truckin awning is no more difficult than a regular type to deploy , the one thing is figuring which side of the auto rafter is going to click in first, so when you retract it you do that side last , since you only have two hands and one is holding the pull strap on the fabric roll
The truckin awn can be pulled out and put back in way faster than any other awning I`v ever had, given I`v never had a electric one before
