It is nothing more than a hugely overpriced insurance policy with holes big enough to drive a truck through for the issuer.
Totally absurd… we buy a TV from a dealership that sells their product below cost… how do I know??? He told me so…
Then we buy RV trailers and the trailer mfg.’s always has our safety and best interest as their number one priority… they use the highest quality parts and supplies and the best appliances available to that end… sold through a network of dealers that consider you as and treat you as family…
Now you want me to believe that these kind people all of a sudden want to gouge my eyes out and rip me off for no other reason but to take and make money from me… surely you don’t expect me to believe that now, do you…
These warranty companies do have a bad reputation and one that in the past has been earned, by selling thousands of policies denying just claims then closing their door leaving you with a worthless piece of paper… I think there are more consumer protections with them today…
Still its buyer beware… You have to investigate the company first, and then ask for a copy of the contract to bring home and read it at your leisure… read it and understand it… most complaints come from buyers making claims for non-covered problems that they believe should be covered...
extended service contracts are not for everyone… they are a part of a personal risk management program, that work well for many and not as well for others… they are not a bumper to bumper warranty but cover all major systems…
I have had one for a long time and have had no regrets, and I have never had a problem making a claim, nor has the dealer had any problems being paid…
One thing in my favor is that I am fulltime so my risk exposure is much higher than a weekenders would be… I have mine through GS… you can find a copy of their contract on line to read…
