IMO the EcoDiesel is more of a competitor to the 2.7 Ecoboost.
The reality is most half ton buyers tow nothing, and don't haul more than a little stuff from Lowes back to the house. The EcoDiesel and this new Ford diesel will probably work really well in that role.
If you're towing much over 7-8k lbs regularly I wouldn't buy any half ton. Just my opinion.
