The shop foreman called today and said to bring it in 8/11 (with trailer) and they'll take it out for some testing. They've been thrashing their cats with Ford over it for a day, so maybe they have some better input. They did narrow it down to the fact that the trans fluid temp was the culprit turning the fan on, and it appears to be operating properly, so now to the root cause: high fluid trans temp.
The guy I spoke with told me they are not comfortable driving a customers trailer around. I told him I'm not comfortable with it either, that's why I'm volunteering my services for the entire morning. He said he didn't feel right about that, didn't want to inconvenience me (little late for that at this point, huh?). Told hin I don't care, I just want the issue resolved, so I guess they're going to go along with it. I have a camping trip between now and then, so hard to tell what is going to happen. I'm almost to the point where I don't care if it pukes aluminum and steel all over the road.
This could get interesting.
