That appears to me as still just a symptom...the root cause will be what is

Hope something dumb and low cost to fix...like a partially plugged ATF cooler
inside the main radiator...
Well, yes, obviously. That was the point I was trying to make, agreed.
It's funny how everyone I talk to about this is perfectly willing to let the parts that didn't fix the problem slide, and try to blame it on the age or mileage of the truck, or the fact that I tow at max capacity. I have to constantly drag them ALL, kicking and screaming, back to the salient point that is unjustifiable: for 6 1/2 years, the only time this fan came on was when it was supposed to, ie, under high load at lower ground speed. If there is so much heat while towing in drive, while cruising at 60 mph, with hardly any throttle input, that the fan kicks on constantly...THERE. IS. SOMETHING. WRONG.
Something has changed. And the $2700 worth of parts didn't take care of it, and in all likelihood, were not needed.
My wife said today, there is no way no one else has experienced this issue on the face of the planet. There is no way someone at Ford powertrain development/engineering doesn't have an inkling where to look. There is no way a dealership cannot access the necessary resources to solve the problem. I'm not buying any of this.
I will remain reasonable until that is no longer prudent in the interest of resolving the issue.
