Just got back from the dealership this am. I called and asked if it would be of any benefit to install the temp event recorder, since I'll be towing before my next scheduled visit. The service manager agreed and I promptly went over and had it installed. Don't know why they didn't think of it, they were the ones who initially brought it up before my first visit.
It only records up to 4 times, and they do a test run upon installation, so I have 3 left. It will record for 30 seconds whenever I push the button. It shouldn't be too difficult to get some good data, since It appears the exact same problem still exists. Once it starts 30 mins. into a trip, it doesn't stop until I give it time to fully cool down. Hopefully, this will give them enough accurate feedback to get the issue resolved.
Then we talk about money. That should be fun.
