And if I read it right on p85, the F350SRW has a bit heftier Sterling rear axle than the F250, in addition to the suspension diffferences.

You're going to have to explain yourself a little better on this one...

There are no "restrictions" from a legal standpoint. PennDOT will happily take your money for whatever vehicle you choose, and issue you plates/stickers. It's less than 26,001 lbs, so it'll be non-commercial regardless.

If you live in a subdivision with an HOA, you may be restricted as to the GVWR of the truck you purchase. You'd have to check on that one.

Towing an RV, the weight laws don't apply to you. More correctly, they are simply not enforced. DOT has bigger fish to fry, namely the thousands of commercial vehicles on the road, not the dozens of RVs.

Which ever one you get make sure it has 18 inch tires and the camper package

get the sno plow pac in the F250.This gives you the F350springs minus the upper overloads

I got a 250 with the snow plow prep. which gave me the heavier springs in front and the 3.55 gears. I added airbags to the rear to compensate for the weaker springs, and they are wirelessly adjustable.

I now have a truck that will clear the garage opening and will carry anything that a 350 will. The lower gears with 18" wheels gives the best performance.

You get a current model 250 with camper package, you get a 350 only Ford has put the lower GVWR on it for registration purposes only.

Thanks for the info, and thoughts! I've not thought of some of these! It seems payload is key. But I hadn't considered the fact of the Lemon Law not applying to larger trucks. Also, what kind of weight and class restrictions are there?

Assuming the single rear wheel 350, it's mostly heavier rear suspension. Assuming you find two nice trucks for the same price, I would take the 350 so you have a little more capability, particularly if you considering a 5th wheel.

Bumper pulls won't see much difference because hitch weight usually isn't the limiting factor but 5th wheels are usually limited by pin weight and there the 350 will easily be rated for a bigger trailer.

I've had both. The F-250 will tow anything the F-350 will. Although you may need some minor suspension upgrades.

I got the F-350 for the weight ratings. If Ford finds that you are exceeding the weight rating it gives them a reason to void your warranty repairs.

I got the F-350 because with my 5th wheel I would be above the max weights of the F-250. If I got in an accident it would give them a cause of action on me for exceeding the weigh limitations of the truck.

The down side was the F-350 could not be lemon lawed in my state. Only up to a F-250. I found that out because I had the 6.0 in my F-350 and I was stuck with that POS.

I had to add timrens to get my F-350 to tow level, you could do that to the F-250 and get the same result.
