1995-1997 F-250/350 Owners: tie-down's?

Torklift's website doesn't even list an available option for the old "OBS" Fords (1995-1997 F-250/F-350).

I like the frame-mounted systems better due to risk of twisted rear bumpers (and, yes, I have seen a LOT of examples of this locally).

If there are any TC'ers on here with above year Ford, what are you using?
  • Thanks for the input, all.

ol'grouch: I like your idea a LOT. Great solution. Not sure it'll work for me, but it's a really slick setup.
  • I also use the torklift front tie downs, got them 2 months ago on the rear welded 1.5"x1.5" tubeing to the trailer hitch that was there and I have had no problems at all.
  • I used Torklift part #F2000 for the front. In the rear I just used the happijac buttons on the bumper. Bumper is plenty strong and I saved some money going that route.

I have 4 11,000 pound tie downs in my bed. I have 4 matching tie downs underneath that are tied into the frame. My truck will break in half before those give. When the camper isn't in the bed, they are major heavy duty tie downs for anything I don't want moving. I plan to eventually put a heavy plate in the middle just to make sure the bolts can't pull through but I'm in no hurry there.

  • Regular Hj tiedowns. I do not like my tiedowns real tight... Camper rides fine... <>200,000 miles.. Heavy camper... 1994 f250 super cab. Camper sits on 3/4 plywood.
Camper has never shifted more than a 1/2 inch left or right.... Never towards the rear.
Front tiedowns are angled to prevent that. We have been over some extremely rough dirt/rock roads including the Dalton to Prudhoe bay.... And more.

Not a problem if installed properly AND the bumper is in good share with the addition of bumper supports
  • I used a bed mount system on mine. The OBS had thick metal in the beds still, would not do it with a newer truck. Had an 8' Cascade, was about 3000 pounds ready to camp. 20k+ miles with that setup and new owner still using for a TC hauler. No issues. While I agree frame mount is best, don't discount bed mounting if you don't have a huge or heavy camper.

  • What type of rear hitch do you have makes the difference. Factory hitches do not have a Tork Lift rear tie down where after market hitches do.
