F-350 Payload

Hi all,
Im looking on fords website at the payload numbers for the f350 4x4..

For those with a 2011+ f350 DRW does it actually have 6680lbs of payload??

if you have actually weighed your truck empty what are your numbers?

Im looking at getting a host triple slide with a new truck and then I also want to tow my boat behind it.. Boat is about 7000lbs so about a 750lb tongue weight with a triple axle trailer. its a super air natique g25.

  • My 2013 DRW PS CC weights 8,900 on the cat scales, my sticker says 14,400 so that's 5,500 payload if you don't exceed the rear axle weight of 9,400 if I remember correctly. Don't have my truck here at work so I’m going off memory (except for the cat scale weight).
  • My 2013 F350 4WD DRW (loaded Lariat Ultimate) has a yellow sticker of 5330. Haven't hit the scales yet...
  • My 99 V10 Gas 2wd Crew Cab XL Dually had about 4000 ish lbs of payload.

    Thanks!

The actual payload will depend on how the truck is built. A 2wd gas truck with a reg. cab and no options will have a huge payload.
A 4wd diesel with a loaded interior will have much less.
Hopefully someone will answer who has actually weighed theirs. Even with that information, if you purchase a truck optioned differently it will change.

Your statement was true about the 2004 and earlier Ford trucks, but in 2005 something amazing happened. Trucks with heavy options got a higher GVWR! What a novel thought. A 4 by 4 diesel that can carry as much as a lighter curb weight F-350 without those options.

The 2005 and newer SRW F-350 should be able to carry about 4,000 pounds, a highly optioned out Lariat might be a little less, the 3,700 pounds quoted above seems to come to mind on one model.

The DRW F-350 even with a diesel engine and crewcab will come in around 8,000 pounds curb weight, and has a GVWR some 6,000 pounds higher. I don't have the exact spects, but getting a towing guide at your local Ford dealer will give them in detail. There is about 50 ways to equip a F-250 and F-350. Well over 2 dozen GVW ratings for various models, cab size, diesel or gas engine, 4 wheel drive or not.

Then there is GCVWR. That is super high with the F-450 and lower rear axle ratio.

Get the book. Even a current model year book is better than not having one, and not understanding about the GVWR designed into the current line of trucks.

    Good luck,

  • No one knows what your trucks total package is so your going to get input from F350 DRW owners with other cab/options selections.

This per fleetford.com spec sheets; These numbers are for std selections and no options.
    The '11 F350 DRW 2wd regular cab 12800 GVWR 9000 RAWR with a 6.2 gas has a 6520 lb payload.

The same 2wd reg cab truck with a 6.7 diesel has a 12500 GVWR 9000 RAWR has a 5530 lb payload
Now add a 4x4 crew cab long wheelbase and other factory options and the payloads go down.

The same truck in a '13 and '14 DRW 14000 GVWR and 9650 RAWR has payloads over 7000 lbs with the 6.7 engine.
  • My truck is crew cab, dually, diesel King Ranch 4 X 4.

Weighs in at about 8,680 with wife and I on board.

With a GVWR of 13,300 that only leaves 4,620 pounds for a truck camper.

6,680 would have to be non-diesel and perhaps with a much smaller cab configuration.
  • My doorplates says something like 3700#. I have no idea where that 6000+ comes from.

  • I will use a weight distribution hitch so according to torklift supertruss I can put 1200lbs of tongue weight on the 42 inch extension that I would need.
