Just a note on hitting or missing EPA ratings. Motor Trend says Ford is slightly better than average in that regard. Diesels tend to do better relative to their ratings, but as stated, Diesel is more $$. Where I live, diesel is currently 30% more expensive. That's nuts.
My work vehicle is an EB, and I find it capable of amazing mileage, but if I use the abundant turbo torque, the mileage does suffer. People who criticise a vehicle for getting poor mileage when driven aggressively are really on "thin ice". EPA numbers (hybrids and other exceptions excluded), indicate what is POSSIBLE, not what YOU will get.
