I see your point. I remember the BB vs SB "discussions" . I just see this as a little more stupid. I don't know if you read the threads over at f150 forum but that is where I am getting this opinion.
I agree with you...that things get out of hand and then it's brand wars...or as you point out...really get's to the extreme when it becomes engine wars within one brand.
My view over the past few years has been that GM, Ford and Dodge all make fine trucks. It's hard to go wrong with any of them.
A buddy of mine...a dyed in the wool Chevy guy....who drag races and has two cars both with hopped up small block Chevy V8's...recently decided to get a truck.
He looked at Dodge, GM and Ford. He surprised me a bit but bought a Ford truck....F 150.
He said all makes were good....he liked the Dodge Hemi V8.....the GM warranty and external look and the Ford interior.
Because he's an old guy like me....comfort is of the most importance and the Ford did this best.
I know the feeling. The car I drive most of our vehicles is my big Buick sedan. Because it's the most comfortable by far and I can stretch my legs out without cramping my hockey damaged knees.
If someone asked me 10 years ago if I would buy a Buick....I would of said no.
They're all good and with the F 150....I would say either the 5 liter V8 or the twin turbo V6 would be great.
