I'm not any sort of a brand loyalist, and I don't get hung up on whether or not the truck I choose is the best choice for someone else.  But when I was shopping for a new 1/2-ton truck earlier this year, I noticed the Fords offered more payload than the competitors.  I test drove both the 5.0L and the EB.  The 5.0L was quite impressive, way better than the 5.4L I test drove several years ago.  Great power, with that awesome V8 sound.  But the EcoBoost really intrigued me.  What I found weird was that it accelerated so quickly, but didn't really make much noise in the process.  I pushed my foot down, and it just... went.
I, too, had concerns over complexity of the engine, can a V6 really do this, etc.  So I took the easy way out:  I leased.  I'm committed to only 3 years, I can experience for myself how well I like it, and I can keep on eye on other people's experiences as they put more miles behind them.
So far, I love driving it, but the only towing I've done is from the storage lot to my house, which is about 5 miles.  It definitely gets moving easier than my Ram did, but that's more a function of gearing than anything else.  I'm looking forward to seeing how well it performs on the open road.
