Just traded my 07 F150 for a 2016 F250 crew cab with a 6.2L gas. My first 3/4 ton PU. Haven't towed with it yet, but the F250 feels like a lot more truck to me. 12,500 lb tow 3200 lb payload ...

The diesel engine weighs about 800 lbs more than a gas engine. 3/4 ton trucks are arbitrarily limited to 10,000 lbs to stay in that 2B class. A gas 3/4 ton truck with 10,000 lbs gvwr will ALWAYS have more payload than a heavier diesel. Its simple math.
If you want diesel and more payload, get a 1 ton. Essentially the same truck with no arbitrary GVWR.
