I like the F150 lightning but I think the Cybertruck has better lockable storage. That stand on powered box cover is cool on the Cybertruck. And I think the in box (below box storage) of the Cybertruck is kinda cool. The Fords frunk is huge though. Gotta love that.
And on the subject where you are the resident expert, whether Ford has the recharging network -- although this is not out of the realm of their resources to build up.
I know little about fords plans for infrastructure but I have read in more than one place that ford adapted the ISO plug and charge protocol like they did with the Mach E. What does this mean? So in a Tesla you drive up to the Supercharger stall, grab the handle on the charge cable, point it at the charge door, push the little button, door opens, plug in and walk away. No RFID cards, no credit cards, NADA. The car communicates with the mothership and at the end of the charge session your credit card is billed. Unhook, drive away. This is essentially what the Mach E and the Lightning can do. Most EV’s go thru a big dance of selecting the right RFID card in your wallet depending on which chain you are at, FLO, EVGO, Charge point, EA etc etc etc. Then trying to get authorization, account balance checking etc. It can be a little frustrating although it may have gotten better since we sold our leaf. Petrocan is relatively easy as it just involves a credit car.
On edit, I don’t know which networks participate in this ISO plug and play protocol but I assume a bunch. Really don’t know. Sorry. I know it’s the Ford Pass App that makes this all possible.
https://owner.ford.com/fordpass/fordpass-electric-vehicle-features-overview.htmlI like the lightning but am disappointed in the anemic 150 KW charging rate. That is sooo 2017. I’m sure it will get better.
