These last few comments have me thinking more about the environmental impact and global issues. Yes there are a couple Lithium mines in the US, Nevada, Wyoming (not open yet) and North Carolina (I think), there might be more locations with Lithium as the US has large deposits, but most is coming from China, Australia, Chile. There are battery manufactures in the US, but Tesla is using a company from China as their source. So, what does that mean to the environment. Lithium Ion is more or less not that stable and explosive. What happens to one of these ships carrying lots of Lithium Ion if something happens mid shipment. Oil floats on top of water, it can be skimmed off, we can clean up sea life, yes it is detrimental. But, what happens if a shipment of Lithium Ion sinks, what happens to sea life, how do you clean it up? I think they need to work more on Sodium Ion batteries, much better for the environment. Green isn't as green as you think on the surface...
