It won't hurt, that's for sure. Sway is typically a result of poor (or light) tongue weight and you should have at least 12% of the trailer's total (and actual) weight on the tongue. However, strong wind gusts, passing trucks and other large vehicles can indeed induce some sway and this is when a sway control device will help...but keep in mind, will not eliminate.
In your case, I would first make sure that I have sufficient weight on the tongue and I would also install at least a single anti-sway device. You probably don't need a weight distribution unit, but even one of those will also help somewhat.
