Sounds good in cyberspace duck, but doesn't quit work that way when you walk through the showroom door. I actually went through this exercise recently. Ford F150 XLT with heavy duty payload package and the max tow package optioned out they way I wanted was $37K, and that included the Ecoboost engine which is not inexpensive.
The F250 starts at $35K before you add the XLT package, something better then the 5.4, and any other options to make them identical. So in the real world, your scenario don't fly.
I just did a build on the Ford site yesterday. I could've printed out my summary and taken it to the Ford dealer and paid the same for either. What's different about building on the site as opposed to having some sales guy build one?
You're numbers are off.
Base F150 Super Crew 6.5 box, which is needed to get the HD option is $37,040.
Add $1200 for the upgrade 3.5 EB.
Add $2390 for the HD package which requires adding the Max trailer tow package.
Total comes to $41, 285. And that's not adding one single option. Add trailer tow mirrors, which are standard on the F250 and the total comes to $42,275.
An F250 Crew Cab, same as Super Crew with the same 6.5" box in XLT trim is $39,595 without any options.
Both trucks spec with 2wd.
