I like diesel. Someday you just might want to upgrade to a 5th wheel and you'll be ready.
So is the gas not 5th wheel towing capable?
They can, but either need a lighter 5er, or really low gears!
I tow an 11,000# 5er with 14 year old diesel with less than 300 Hp and 3.55 gears, I only need to drop my 5 speed 4th, to pull most hills. Just turned 281,000 miles.
I can't fathom what pulling a 14,000 to 16,000 5er would be like with 100 more Hp and about 250# more of tourque!
He's not towing 14k lbs and if he was, he would likely need to move up to a 1 ton (SRW would likely be OK)
I'm also in the catagory who went from diesel to gas (need to update our signature). Our 5th wheel is around the same weight as the OP's and the gas V10 we swapped out for does just fine. Yes, it needs to drop out of Overdrive more often on hills but nothing outrageous. It's just the nature of gas engines. They develope thier power at higher RPM.
The MPG is down but so is the per gallon price of gas vs diesel, so $/mile is about the same. We have around 250mile range which is longer than I want to tow without stopping anyway.
