Will the chassis/brakes/suspension handle it? Yes, except the newer F250's are extremely lightly sprung in the rear end. More like a heavy half ton, IMO. I have a 2013 F250 6.2 and 1000lbs in the bed sags the rear end bad. So will need airbags and/or extra leafs no question.
I like the 6 speed auto trans, but you will be miserable towing that much weight/frontal area with the 6.2. IMO it has less snort than the 5.0 and Eco boost. Have towed with both.
For comparison, I made a trip from Seattle to Anchorage this spring. About 1000lbs in the bed, towing a 3500 ish lb 9' tall single axle enclosed trailer. Averaged 8mpg over the course of the trip with ALOT of slow driving due to bad roads and frost heaves, no high altitude driving, and it was a 3rd gear (sometimes 2nd) turd up EVERY grade.
Truck runs great, I like it, but not a towing machine IMO.
BTW, your sig says you have a 2500 RAM with a Hemi and 4.10's. Why looking at Ford gassers? Not really an upgrade there.

i have a Sabre 31BHDS. i pull it with an F-350 DRW.
i have also pulled it with my F-250 SRW.

many times i pull doubles total gross weight is 28,000 +.

a late model F-250 with a Gas engine will have enough power to pull the trailer. the difference in the 3/4 tons, and 1- tons are few these days.

i prefer Diesel engines, but they are not a nessessity.

you would be best served with a long wheel base pickup.

I have a 2012 F250 gasser. I'm inclined to agree, a F350 would be a wise choice for a trailer that heavy. I'm pulling a 11K pound gross 5th wheel and it works well, but I needed air bags to level out the truck.

Pin weight will be much higher than 2K making a 350/3500 the wiser choice.

I'm pulling a 16K trailer with a 6.2 F350 but I ordered it with 4.30 gears. If you want to pull with a gas truck it has to be set up for pulling with a gas motor not with gears that work in a diesel. On flat ground with little wind I can even pull in 6th gear, 2K rpm 65 mph in 6th.

I would not pull that big of trailer across the country, or full timing, with a gasser. I have the 6.2, but a smaller FW. I would check the payload on the door,and also look for the gearing. If the payload is right, and the gears 4.30, it will work for weekends, and vacations.
