F350 too tall for fiver

I got my new Columbus 295RL and with my '15 F350 I am sitting at around 13'7". Has anyone lowered theirs?

I see several ways:
1. I can raise the pin box one hole and drop 1" or so- it will only go up one hole
2. change from my 20's to 18" wheels and tires and drop by 1 1/2"
3. Possibly take out the 4" rear blocks and put in the 2" blocks from a F230- but I have read of others doing this and having issues with axle wrap and shuddering.

I would like to be sitting around 13'4" max.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

  • I had the 4" replaced with 2" blocks on my '07 F350 FX4 SRW and had no problems at all with the truck towing or not, 35' 5er. But on the current 2012 F350 FX4 SRW I left the 4" blocks on. 5er rides just a little nose high but not enough to be a concern. I did lower the hitch on the new truck 2 bolt holes. 6" clearance to bed rails on both. 20" wheels on both.
  • The 18"s are 1 1/2" shorter than the 20"s. I found this out when i removed the spare to install my slider hitch. I put it up against my 20" and its way shorter.

I have about 7" between the camper and truck rails
  • I think you'll find that the difference between those two tires sizes is not that much because the 20's are lower profile.
  • I've going to guess you have the "off-road" option (which is FX4?).
I know in earlier model years replacing the 4" blocks with 2" was the standard fix. I would talk to a -knowledgeable- (ya I know) Service Manager in a truck dept and get their opinion
