The long wheelbase of a Suburban or Expedition EL costs about $2500 more new than the short. I don't understand how someone can afford a $65k vehicle, but not a $67.5k. Get the long wheelbase. Or skip an option or two. Or buy a 1-year old model. We test drove a Yukon before purchasing our Suburban and thought the 3rd row was unsuitable for anyone while also preventing anything buy a duffle bag for storage behind the 3rd row.
Our 2011 3/4 ton Suburban has almost every feature that our 2008 Town and Country Limited had. We are missing just the 3rd row screen for movies, only 2nd row and HID headlights which I added this year. The only option I did not get that I wanted was cooled front seats, but those are available. Today's SUVs offer the same level of equipment as passenger cars and minivans, but as you probably realized at 50%-75% more than similarly priced minivans.
Check out a used 2007-2014 Yukon XL Denali. It should have all the features you are used to, a reasonably comfortable ride, and tons of power to make towing comfortable.
