I disagree. I have Fantastic Vent's 6600R in my bathroom - with no vent cover over it. It is about 10 inches from the edge of the roof on the driver's side. I was hanging out with a friend parked in the site next to me - on my driver's side. We were under his awning during a heavy afternoon drizzle and one of the afternoon's highlights was watching the stupid vent close and reopen every 20 minutes. The rain sensor on my 6600R works perfectly.
It probably would not be so entertaining if it were about 2:00AM and you were trying to get some sleep!:E
We have two of them and they are covered with MaxxAir FanMate covers so the rain sensor does not come into operation.
