I have Maxxair covers on all of my vents and I put a Maxxair Fanmate over the Fantastic fan. It is made for this application.
Like the others it is bolted to the frame of the vent and not to the roof as the others are. It has no effect on the airflow and you can open it up for cleaning. It does not seem to add anything to the noise level.
