Fantastic Fan vent cover

I just installed a Fantastic Fan in my small Class C and covered it with a Camco vent cover. I've seen plenty of Fantastic Fans with vent covers. However, when registering with the company so I will be covered by the 2-year warranty, I read some small print stating that the manufacturer "does not recommend covering your Fantastic Fan with a vent cover" because it will cut down on efficiency and create more fan noise. I installed the vent cover so I could leave the vent open without worrying about rain (no rain sensor on my model) and keep air circulating when MH sits in the sun without the AC or Fantastic Fan operating. I know many FF owners use covers. Has anyone had problems as a result? Has anyone avoided installing a vent cover over their FF because of the company warning?

    On one of my previous RV's I tried one of the "conventional" covers and felt that it restricted the flow. I returned it and got the Maxxair covers. I am still using the Maxxair covers that I purchased, two coaches later.

    I went with MaxxAir-II vent covers. RV shop told me that was what they commonly use. I can see where anything that either 1. Keeps the Lid from going all the way up or 2. Requires air to flow through louvers, would reduce air flow.
    All I can say is that I'm satisfied with the performance of our two FF's under the MaxxAir-II covers.

    We installed MaxAire vent covers on our DP when we had that. Hated them. Really seemed to cut down on the fresh air intake, and had to have the fan going to get fresh air in, instead of just leaving the vent open. Will not be installing them on current rig or any future ones. JMHO

    I found that the max air vents mounts to be problem when trying to mount them to the sides of the frame.

    So I replaced it with the Fantastic Vent as it is designed to work with the fan and it's frame.

    They also flow better than other vent covers.

    MaxAir makes a cover specifically for Fantastic Fans, the FanMate. Lots of people don't want to pay the extra cost for this cover and use the other MaxAir covers. I can't speak to how well those work, but the FanMate cover works just fine.

    I just installed 2 of them my fantastic vents. I have the 14 speed automatic model and usually use it on a very low speed. I suppose if you measure air flow on high fan speed it may make a difference but I have never used it on high. Its not going to hurt anything and they were $22.00 each instead of $52.00
