We have the Maxxair covers over our two Fantastic fans and the lids don't open all the way as previously stated. I suppose there is some air flow restriction but I don't know how to measure it and we've been getting along just fine for several years.
BTW Fantastic fans are noisy and I recommend they NOT be put in the bedrooms.
