It protects them and allows them to charge more of their products than if they had foreign competition. I’m not arguing the rightness or wrongness, just the reality.
But they had nine foreign truck competitors with the chicken tax in place and still have three. There is no "if they had foreign competition" because they actually did and still do.
So you don’t think a 25% tariff was a factor in their leaving? If it wasn’t, why have it?
You say the tariff doesn’t affect competition and yet it keeps manufacturing in the US. Which is it because it can’t be both.
