Nope the only issues I have had were a left mirror puddle light, cruise button stopped working and the door handle unlock button not working. The first two were replaced and the second was fixed by reprogramming the operator :W seems I was touching the back of the handle and unlocking it at the same time I was trying to lock it.
As for the engines yep there have been a few that have gone south but not any more then any other car company's. The ZF eight speed is rock sold and I have not heard or seen any issues with it. That is not to say they are 100% perfect but they are one of the best transmissions out there.
I would and will buy another Ecodiesel when the time comes and no it is not because I work for FCA. It is because the truck and engine have been rock sold for the last 48,000 miles.
I am running the GDE tune and will run it on my next ED when the time comes. It takes care of the BS that the clowns at the EPA demand for all newer diesel engines without causing excessive pollution to the environment. This is not a tune like you see for the larger displacement diesels it just addresses some of the EGR, throttle lag issues and gives a small boost in the HP/TQ ratings. Also adds engine breaking and it works very well.

I will add that the mileage before I bought new tires was out of this world for a 4X4 crew cab truck. With the Goodyear tires was 32 MPG @ 55 MPH, 30 @ 65 MPH and 28 @ 77 MPH! This is exactly what everyone else running the GDE tune is seeing also. Stock tune mileage was 2-3 MPG less at the same speeds. And yes you are reading that right I was making better than the rated mileage for this truck! This is also what most owners report also! With the Defender® LTX tires mileage has dropped by 3-4 MPG and I'm not happy about that at all!
