I'm towing a 6800# boat without any problem at all. I towed an RV of about the same weight for my BL in Tenn and she didn't miss a beat. Remember this engine has the same HP/TQ ratings as the 7.3 and 5.9 did back in the day! No one had a problem towing with those engines back then now did they.
We seem to forget that given the almost 1000 ft lb tq ratings we have now!

I did. My old 95 5.9L was a slug compared to my 6.7L or my old 3.5L Ecoboost. Don't get me wrong, the thing was reliable as hell and always got me there (eventually) when I had a load behind her, but it was not going to win any races in stock form. Nor was I able to go up any mountain road I wanted to while keeping the speed limit even with the much slower highways speeds back then.
After modifying the fuel plate, the fuel pump, a set of performance injectors, and governor spring kit she was pushing about 350-375 hp. Then I can go up just about any hill I wanted while keeping the speed limit. But in stock form, yes I did have problems going up some hills towing.
Although, to be fair, for some people doing 30-40 mph up a 7% grade is not a problem. To me it is. Everyone has different expectations.
