Fender skirt questions

I ended up drilling a hole in the middle hole and in the center where the support arm holds the fender. I was able to just line up the other holes by peeking behind the skirt and drilling through to match each hole.

I tried the grease trick harley mentioned, but I didn't have grease so I tried to use car wax. It didn't leave enough of a residue to be useful, so I figured let's just try and put it on.

Hopefully this one stays on and doesn't crack for a while.

I'll be attempting this sometime this week. I'll let you guys know how it ends up and which idea I went with/worked best.

Put the screws partially back into the holes in the trailer side,but let them stick out a bit. Put grease on the screw ends then carefully lay the skirt against the screws and the grease will transfer to the back side of the skirt ....that is where you drill holes...and voila.done

I've never replaced a fender before. Could you drill pilot holes from the TT to the fender. Somehow securely mount the new fenders to the TT (C clamps or a couple of screws) then drill tiny pilot holes into the new fender utilizing the existing holes.

That paper idea is actually pretty good. I have a roll of paper like that laying around too luckily. I'll give that a shot. Thanks!

You could also tape a piece of butcher paper or similar to your TT, mark the old holes on it, and then transfer to your new fender.

My new fender came pre drilled (actually, not drilled as much as a hot tool was melted through). They matched pretty well. I got mine straight from the manufacturer though. A universal fender would be different of course.

After mounting, mine appeared like it wasn't going to lay down very well. A few times in the sun caused it to fit into position like it was supposed to.

So I got my skirt replacement and it doesn't have pre drilled holes in the plastic. It is the Keystone brand skirt, so it should match perfectly. I'd like to just utilize the holes already in the trailer and not make new ones, but am wondering what is the best way to get the holes lined up. I'm going to need to pre-drill guide holes in the skirt before installing, but don't know how to insure that they'll line up with the holes in the trailer.

I'm guessing the best way might be to take the old skirt off and lay it over the new one and drill thru the holes already in the old one to the new one, but I'm not positive how well they'll line up when laying on top of each other.

Any tips or suggestions?

I have been through two sets of fender skirts on my Keystone Passport. Poor design in my opinion. The dealer replaced the first set after they broke only after a few hundred miles. When the second set broke the dealer advised me that they would not replace them a second time. I ordered a set from the internet. I made the skirts more rigid by using one inch iron strap. I also used threaded screws with rubber washers to help absorb the road vibration and lock washers on the back sitting on a flat washer. So far so good. I hope this helps.

I replaced mine with some I found on-line. Mine were destroyed when I blew two tires. I have a Keystone Everest. The fenders themselves are cosmetic, however the screws that held mine on also hold the inner fender wells in place.

I wonder if you sprayed the inside of the fender with rock guard or bed liner if that would help any?.....its just a thought.
