It really is not as deceptive as VW. More a miscommunication that will need to be explained.
One thing that I wish they'd look into also. Our EGR systems clog up extremely fast 15-20K and sensors and valve need to be cleaned.
Thanks for the links, I hope this is all just a miscommunication. I can't believe they would be dumb enough to keep a "cheat" in these vehicles after VW got busted. - DakotaDadExplorer

Whew! So glad this doesn't impact the Cummins motors, otherwise this thread would just become another brand pissing match.....
It still will. We all need to be careful, the Ram mafia is going to come out swinging hard on this one....
Why the attack on Ram owners?
It should be investigated, just as VW was. To the extent that these vehicles fail emissions, they should be repaired or bought back. To the extent that it was intentional cheating, FCA should be fined, made to fix the problems, and individuals responsible should be held accountable and charged if merited.
Same rules and standards for everyone. - hone_eagleExplorerSo they turn off the 8 AECD and they should be good? No intent to 'cheat' or deceive but a misunderstanding .
Will driveability be affected, mileage ,SCR use? I see class actions over resale losses, but no danger to the existence of FCA. - STANG23LExplorerJust found a great run down of the issues on the table by someone that seems to know what there talking about. I don't think this is as bad as some are saying.

But there's a class action on cummins and fca right now and I recall reading that the two are battling an emissions problem and that fca expects cummins to pay the piper.
Last year fca got slapped by the NHSTA with the largest fines in automotive history and they going to get slapped by the EPA. What's next?
So if fca is on hold on shipping '17 ecdiesels that could create a huge mess on the entire material supply chain and the customers who are waiting for there new truck to be delivered.
What a big mess!- STANG23LExplorerThis is the best article I've seen yet explaining what is going on.

This only affects a small number of Ram and Jeeps so it should be able to be resolved with a flash to remove the offending code, a pay out to owners for the loss of fuel mileage and or buy back similar to VW's and a nice big fine.
IMO the person or persons that authorized the code should be fired, and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. But that won't happen so oh well. - ChooChooMan74ExplorerBasically, there are some instances outside of the EPA test parameters, where the emissions are higher than what is allowed. We will see where this goes.

So not the HD trucks apparently. Dodge had a diesel 1/2 ton back in 2014?
Dodge didn't had a 1/2 ton in 2014. Ram Truck division of FCA has the 1/2 ton (1500 series to be exact). - alexleblancExplorer

However, if they are true and FCA has been cheating, I hope they thoroughly investigate Sergio. I like many of the FCA products, but I just cannot trust that guy.
