Some of my best friends are Canadian. Couldn't ask for better neighbors to our north. A little heckling from time to time is to be expected. It's all good!:B - tplifeExplorerThis was very informative to see where some folks get their news - 30 second sound bites. If only as much time was spent reading the WSJ as watching TV, studying economics or history, or perhaps they were born after the NAFTA rules and the first election...with both the White House and senate control in hand. Political payback is "The Chicago Way", and those companies got floated by forcing the investors to take pennies on the dollar, those were the little old ladies and teachers' unions being given haircuts. And if it can be done to them, trust me (as a guy from New Jersey where problems are ended from planes without parachutes), they can do it to you. Just keep voting them back into office and change the channel folks.
- LessmoreExplorer IIAs a Canadian I've always felt that we have the immeasurably good fortune, to have America and Americans as neighbours. I have friends and relatives who are American.

I have the deepest respect for our neighbors from the North as I know that they respect us. We need and rely on each other, and it will always be that way. There is always a few nuts in everybodys family! - TargaExplorerSteve is obviously a real class act but don't insult other members on here by knocking there country.

Like it or not the US federal government has stepped in two times to prevent Chrysler from going under. That is a fact. GM needed the feds once. Ford has never needed federal guarantees or cash infusions. My question is very fair. Since Chrysler is now 100 owned by Fiat, an Italian Corporation, will the US still be called upon should Chrysler need bailing out a third time?bigdogger wrote:

So here is a history lesson for you.
1, The UAW or more correctly the employee pension fund was used to keep Chrysler afloat the first time. The only involvement the US Government had was in backing or guaranteeing the pension fund would be repaided.
2, Chrysler nor GMC wanted to go through bankruptcy, that was mandated by three Republicans. The only reason we needed to ask for LOANS was because the Bankers would not refinance our (Chrysler & GM) loans. Ford was able to refinance only after the Ford Family put up eveything they owned.
Give this BS a rest already.
Don
Chrysler and GM weren't bailed out to save their names or owners the last time. They were bailed out to save the hundreds of thousands of jobs through vendors and suppliers directly and indirectly tied to them without which could have ended up in another Great Depression. I too wonder what will happen when they need another infusion. At some point the doctor will pull the plug. - buffaloboreExplorer

No we don't depend on the US! Lol we're a self sufficient country that doesn't need to constantly start wars and kill people to get what we want and need!
For some reason Americans think their country is the biggest in the world and holds power, sad fact is that's a myth.
Canada's top exports are coal, oil, LPG, and cars. If it wasn't for the super powers that consume disgusting amounts of energy Canada wouldn't have ****. Your military is anemic and you lack a nuclear deterrent, relying on the United States nuclear umbrella. - hone_eagleExplorer
